What Leaders Say About Our Work

The LegacyFirst team quite literally saved Freedom West from being lost—preventing the displacement of over 1,000 residents. Over the past five years, they’ve helped us more than triple the net operating income of our existing property. Now we’re working on a $2.3 billion revitalization of our 10-acre community. This includes building new homes for our residents and creating sustained, long-term cash flow that will enable us to achieve true economic self-sufficiency. Thanks to LegacyFirst, we’re now in a position to serve our residents and the broader Fillmore community for generations to come.

LegacyFirst is the driving force behind the Freedom West 2.0 project in San Francisco's Fillmore district. This project is a powerful testament that community-focused redevelopment can succeed without displacing long-term residents and families who are foundational to California's historic and economic tapestry. As an ardent advocate for the economic benefits of racial equity and social justice, I see this social enterprise as the blueprint for thoughtful, people-centered initiatives. These initiatives deliver lasting positive impacts on the health, mental health, and well-being of marginalized communities, effectively countering the harms inflicted by past, non-inclusive developments. I deeply appreciate LegacyFirst's contributions to both communities and investment objectives.
